Description

Sent with a kiss: Diana ALS with lipstick imprint

Lady Diana Frances Spencer (1961–1997) was 20 when she married Prince Charles, future king of England, on July 29, 1981. While her youth and beauty made her a favorite of the public and the paparazzi, her personal life provided an endless supply of fodder for the tabloids. After the birth of two sons, Princes William and Harry, Diana and Charles finally divorced in 1996. Diana devoted her post-royal life to her sons and worldwide charities. She and her boyfriend, department-store heir and sometime movie producer Dodi Fayed, were killed in a 1997 car crash in Paris while on the run from paparazzi. ALS, one page both sides, 6.25 x 4, embossed Kensington Palace letterhead, December 22, 1992. Letter of thanks to Simon for a Christmas gift. In full, “I did not have Elton’s ‘The One’ compact disc so I was thrilled to bits to be given it for Christmas! Thank you so much for thinking of me in this wonderfully generous way - It meant a great deal. Love & special thanks from Diana” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Diana’s hand. Diana has also placed a red lipstick lip impression on the front of the card. In very fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
