Popular American actor (1883–1930) whose versatility in such silent-era classics as The Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame earned him the moniker “Man of a Thousand Faces.” Terrific vintage matte-finish 9 x 7 photo of a crazed, snarling Chaney in character, signed and inscribed in ink, “To Eri Biro, Most sincerely, Lon Chaney.” Close, slightly irregular trimming to top edge just touching one letter of inscription, a hint of subtle soiling and silvering, and a few unobtrusive rubs, otherwise fine condition.
