Description

Truman acknowledges his lack of popularity at the end of his term

TLS, one page, 7.5 x 10.5, personal letterhead, May 10, 1963. Letter to the son of a West Virginia congressman. In full, “I more than appreciate your letter of the 3rd. It certainly was kind and thoughtful of you to write to me as you did. The only trouble with your good letter is that you give me too much credit. Your father was a great man. I was his friend and he was mine. I’ll never forget the last meeting I had with you when you thanked me for a job well done. Very few people ever told me that in those days and so I never forget it.” In fine condition, with some scattered trivial foxing, and a few creases to lower left. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
