Popular American cartoonist (1884–1954) best known as the creator of the strip Bringing up Father. Superb original drawing of Maggie and Jiggs, ink and crayon on off-white cardstock, 7.75 x 9.25, signed in ink at lower right “Geo. McManus, 1939.” The drawing, evidently intended as a gift, depicts Jiggs “due over at Walter McCarthy’s house” as Maggie demands to know where he’s going. In very fine condition.
