Five TLSs signed “Jerry Ford” as congressman, each one page, 8 x 10.5, congressional letterhead, 1967–1970. Ford writes to Jerry Hrdlicka in Chicago. A few excerpts follow. October 20, 1967: “You express the views of millions of American citizens who are deeply concerned about the credibility gap in the Johnson Administration and with the manner in which President Johnson and Secretary McNamara have been conducting the war in Vietnam….” December 21, 1967: “I can assure you that I do not endorse the policies of the Johnson Administration as far as Rhodesia is concerned….” March 27, 1968: “We Republicans in Congress have been urging President Johnson to curtail unnecessary expenditures for many years….” May 23, 1968: “I am in complete agreement with you that this is not the time to ‘build bridges’ between the East and West through trade. I cannot endorse the Administration’s decision to permit any type of trade with a communist nation, especially while we have fighting forces in Southeast Asia….” January 30, 1970: “It was so kind of you to write … following the radio and television appearance of the gentleman from Indiana who was critical of Mr. Nixon’s veto message….” Light handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
