Description

Mentioning Southern politics and William Randolph Hearst

ALS signed “FDR,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, Roosevelt & O’Connor law firm letterhead, March 1, 1927. Roosevelt writes from Warm Springs to his law partner, Basil O’Connor. In part: “Do you remember the memo I gave you from Hollins N. Randolph about the Miller bonds in Atlanta—& that there was much criticism that the old Miller lawyers were retained by Berenson? Randolph goes to N.Y. & will be at the Roosevelt Hotel Saturday…. Will you have a note for him at hotel, asking him to lunch with you & offering to introduce him to Berenson? It would be good ball….He gave me a banquet in Atlanta last Sat.—much comment throughout the South as he was a McAdoo man in 1924. He has quite a law practice including general counsel for W. R. Hearst in the South(!)…. Ask Crowley where are my Foundation incorporation papers?…” Intersecting mailing folds and two file holes to left margin (lightly touching two words; repaired from reverse), otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
