Vellum DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 19.5, February 18, 1905. President Roosevelt appoints Clarence Bennett to the position of “Chief Carpenter in the Navy to rank with, but after, Ensign.” Signed at the conclusion in ink by Roosevelt, and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy, Paul Morton. In fine condition, with light overall rippling, last few letters of Roosevelt’s signature a bit light due to reduced ink flow, and some scattered mild toning, mostly to edges.
