Description

Terrific vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of a grinning Disney, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Hank, My thanks & appreciation for everything, Walt.” According to the consignor, the inscribee was Hank Porter (1900–1951), a Disney artist who drew the Sunday Mickey Mouse strip from 1935 and did much war-related design work for the studio during World War II; the photo was obtained from Porter’s niece. In very good, visually appealing condition, with slightly indistinct contrast of writing against background and discreet expert cleaning and restoration to a few scratches and a large tear through Disney’s face and background, the restoration including mounting to an archival backing, detectable only on closest inspection. The writing is original and was not affected or altered in any way. PSA/DNA Auction LOA and R&R COA.
