Eminent Viennese composer (1825–1899), known as the “Waltz King,” best known for such all-time favorites as “The Beautiful Blue Danube” and the “Emperor Waltz” and for the operetta staple Die Fledermaus. DS, in German, signed “Johann Strauss, Direktor,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 9 x 14.25, December 30, 1868. An employment contract for a musician named Josef Homole signed by Strauss in his capacity as Hofballmusik-Direktor and Capellmeister. Light intersecting folds (tiny edge separations) and a hint of mild wrinkling, otherwise fine, clean condition. R&R COA.
