Golfer (1902–1971) who, in 1930, became the only Grand Slam winner in the sport’s history, taking the U.S. and British Open and U.S. and British Amateur titles. Over the course of his career, he would win a total of four U.S. Open titles, five U.S. Amateur titles, and three British Open titles. Vintage 7.25 x 9.5 photo of a young Jones swinging a wood on the golf course, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint in his post-stroke hand, “For Doug Norwine, with best wishes, Bob Jones.” Double suede matted and framed with a small name plaque to an overall size of 18.5 x 25. Jones is considered one of the five giants of the 1920s American sports scene, along with Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, Red Grange, and Bill Tilden. He was the first recipient of the Amateur Athletic Union’s James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States. Jones received ticker-tape parades in New York City in 1926 and 1930, a honor only rarely bestowed upon a solo athlete.
