Renowned British-born artist (born 1937) best known for his portraits and for his paintings that incorporate swimming-pool imagery. ALS, one lightly lined page, 8 x 10.25, July 21, 1978. Hockney writes from his London address to Thom Hicks. In part: “Both the Rake’s Progress and The Magic Flute will be playing at the Theatre Royal Norwich on Wednesday & Thursday…. The booking office opens on August 28th at the Theatre Royal Norwich. The models for these operas are in London but I’m leaving for California on August 15th. If you have any trouble getting tickets for Norwich (if the booking has opened for the tour they usually sell out quickly) please contact Helen O’Neill at Glyndebourne.” Intersecting mailing folds and mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
