French playwright and novelist, the illegitimate son of Three Musketeers author Alexandre Dumas père. Dumas fils gained fame first as a novelist, but after two of his works were successfully adapted for the stage he devoted himself to primarily to playwriting, concentrating on moralizing plays aimed at the reform of social evils such as prostitution and illegitimacy. His most popular play, Camille, forms the basis of Verdi's opera La Traviata. Six ALSs, in French, all signed “A. D.,” various sizes, nine pages in total, no dates. Interesting content reading, in small part, “In your accounts…you don’t mention…the two hundred or eight hundred francs. I no longer remember the figure of what I sent you…I am not upset…Nothing will make me loose the friendship I have for you.” In overall very good condition. R&R COA.
