Author, suffragette, dramatist, poet, and biographer (1819–1910), best remembered as the lyricist of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Excellent AQS on an ivory 7 x 4.25 sheet, the opening line of “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” boldly signed in ink “Julia Ward Howe” and dated July 6, 1899. In full: “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.” Two light vertical folds (one just touching last letter of signature), otherwise very fine, fresh, bright condition.
