Military commission for a survivor of Little Bighorn

Partly printed DS, boldly signed as president “Benj. Harrison,” one page on vellum, 14 x 17.25, January 7, 1892. A commission for Charles A. Booth as captain of infantry. Booth (1850–1928), who had served in the 7th U.S. Cavalry under Major Marcus Reno, was one of the participants—and fortunate survivors—of the infamous 1876 Battle of Little Bighorn, where George Custer met his demise. Countersigned by S. B. Elkins as secretary of war. Matted and framed to an overall size of 19.75 x 23.75. In fine condition, with document mounted, intersecting folds (a few pinholes), mild wrinkles, and small losses to seal. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
