‘Old Hickory’ appoints a naval chaplain

DS as president, one page, 14.5 x 17.5, January 4, 1834. President Jackson appoints Thomas R. Lambert “a Chaplain in the Navy.” Signed at the conclusion by Jackson and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Levi Woodbury. In good to very good condition, with intersecting folds, two through single letters of Jackson’s signature, Jackson’s signature a couple shades light, but completely legible, several small areas of paper loss along folds, and some scattered toning and soiling. Attractive vignette remains clear and distinctive, and white paper seal is slightly worn, but intact. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
