Legendary Native American athlete, the first man to win both the decathlon and the pentathlon at the Olympic Games (1912). After being barred from amateur athletics for having played semi-pro baseball, Thorpe went on to become a football star of legendary stature. He is widely considered the greatest all-around athlete of all time. Student ticket for the December 15, 1951, West Virginia Tech/Morris Harvey College basketball game, signed on the reverse in fountain pen, “Jim Thorpe, 1951.” In fine condition, with tape remnants to two corners, slightly affecting first stroke of signature, some mild soiling, and two light vertical perforations through two letters of signature.
