Description

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, October 8, 1931. Coolidge writes to Adolph Lewisohn, the New York financier and philanthropist who built Lewisohn Stadium (demolished 1973). In part: “Upon my return from Englewood I received your letter of the 6th and concur in the thoughts you express concerning Senator Morrow….” Senator Dwight Whitney Morrow (born 1873), who had earlier been appointed by Coolidge as Ambassador to Mexico, served in Congress for less than a year before his death on October 5, 1931. Intersecting mailing folds (vertical fold touching first letter of last name), a hint of toning, and spindle and staple holes to blank top margin, otherwise fine condition.
