Accompanied by a two page TLS, dated January 27, 1919, on United States Senate letterhead and secretarially signed by George Christian, Sr., to an Ohio constituent expressing post-World War I concern over suffering people in Germany and Austria, stating that in his judgement, “it is not an opportune time” to appeal to Americans of German or Austrian descent.
