Actor (1914–1959), né George Bessolo, best remembered for his role as Superman on the popular 1950s television series. He was fatally shot under mysterious circumstances at the age of 45; whether his death was a suicide or a homicide remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of Hollywood lore.
