Mr. Edison goes to Washington: A souvenir of the young inventor’s 1878 trip to the nation’s capital

Early ink signature, “Thomas A. Edison,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2 card. The card is affixed to a page that also bears a 3.25 x 2 albumen Brady photo of Edison posing with his tinfoil phonograph and a handwritten caption in pencil: “April 18, 1878 while Edison was in Wash. to demonstrate his tin foil phonograph to Pres. Hayes at the White House & before the National Academies of Science meeting.” In very good condition, with scatted faint soiling and staining to card (lightly touching signature) and light rippling to photo and page from mounting.
