Description

Russian-born composer (1882–1971) whose distinctive, colorful, constantly evolving style earned him a place among the most influential composers in music history. His ballets The Firebird, Petrouchka, and Rite of Spring represent three benchmarks of twentieth-century music. Program from the Halle Concerts Society season’s seventeenth concert, held on February 22, 1934, featuring violinist Samuel Dushkin. Signed on the opening page in fountain pen by Stravinsky and Dushkin. Dushkin performed and toured with Stravinsky during the 1930s and 40s. Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto was commissioned and dedicated to Dushkin, and premiered by him in 1931. Double matted and framed with a color portrait of Stravinsky, to an overall size of 16 x 11. In fine condition, with some scattered light toning. R&R COA.
