An original broken paintbrush used by Dr. Seuss, approx. 4.5″ long, taped (as originally presented) to an ANS from Seuss on a 5.25 x 8.25 printed sketch of The Cat in the Hat. The note reads, in full: “Before this brush got old an’ tired, Dr. Seuss used it in drawing ME! And that’s a fact, Dr. Seuss.” Archivally matted and shadow-box framed with an unsigned copy of The Cat and the Hat to an overall size of 20.25 x 16.75. In very good condition, with paintbrush broken and taped to sheet as noted, slight trimming to edges of sheet, and light toning and just a subtle shade of fading to ink from previous framing.
