Gratitude to a member of the disbanded Wage Stabilization Board: “Your achievements will stand in the annals of war activities as a striking example of what can be done.”

TLS as president, one page, 8 x 10.5, White House letterhead, February 21, 1947. Truman sends his thanks to a member of the recently disbanded Wage Stabilization Board. In part, “I cannot allow you to relinquish your duties as a member of the National Wage Stabilization Board without sending you this note to reiterate the thanks and appreciation which I expressed to you and your colleagues…Your achievements will stand in the annals of war activities as a striking example of what can be done when the solution of difficult problems is approached in a spirit of open-mindedness, conciliation, and a willingness to give due consideration to the point of view of the other side.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with horizontal mailing fold through Truman’s signature and a bit of scattered light toning. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
