Description

Ex-president as antiquarian: “Only a few days ago I was looking at that manuscript which Fenimore Cooper wrote about your illustrious namesake”

TLS, one page, 7 x 9.25, personal letterhead, December 19, 1932. Coolidge writes to Col. Walter Scott in New York City. In part: “[A] package had been received by me at the house which I have set aside to open on Christmas. If it is something you have owned I shall treasure it much more highly than anything else that you could have sent. Only a few days ago I was looking at that manuscript which Fenimore Cooper wrote about your illustrious namesake and thinking how wonderfully kind it was of you to send it to me….” Intersecting mailing folds (one touching last name), mild handling wear, and a few small spots, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
