Vintage 7.5 x 9.25 pearl-finish photo of Babe Ruth, dressed in his Yankee pinstripes and cap and his bat at his side, cordially shaking hands with noted broadcaster Sid Loberfeld before a game at Yankee Stadium, as fans trickle into their seats past a program vendor, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Sid Loberfeld’s Mother, the Mother of a swell boy, Sincerely, Babe Ruth.” According to legend, Loberfeld was the first to broadcast Brooklyn Dodgers games on the radio, debuting at Ebbets Field at the age of seventeen. In good condition, with unevenly trimmed edges, scattered surface marks and impressions, small area of emulsion loss to left edge, tape residue to horizontal edges and some flaking of ink to several letters of Ruth’s last name as well as inscription. Apparently Loberfeld wanted the approval of listeners throughout New York, and one could not think of a better endorsement than that of Babe Ruth. PSA/DNA Auction LOA and R&R COA.
