Description

Jerusalem-born Palestinian assassin (born 1944) of Robert F. Kennedy. After fatally shooting Kennedy in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968, Sirhan was convicted and sentenced to death, a sentence that was later commuted to life imprisonment. His motivations and the extent of his mental capacity at the time of the shooting have been in debate ever since. Though Sirhan was originally thought to have been motivated by Kennedy’s support of Israel during the Six-Day War, the assassination, like that of Kennedy’s brother, JFK, inspired a raft of sometimes fantastical conspiracy theories, the most pervasive of which is that Sirhan was brainwashed or “programmed” to carry out the assassination. Sirhan is currently incarcerated at the California State Prison in Corcoran and has been turned down for parole some thirteen times. Very scarce ink signature, “Sirhan Sirhan,” on an off-white 6 x 4 card. A notation on the reverse indicates that the signature was obtained in 1978. A few faint bends and a hint of subtle soiling, otherwise fine condition. Sirhan is extremely elusive in any form. R&R COA.
