Description

The famed economist writes two months before his death

Highly influential British economist (1883–1946) who was the chief British representative at the 1944 Bretton Woods conference that established the International Monetary Fund. His views on government intervention in preventing and lessening the effects of depressions and recessions evolved into one of the most significant economic theories of the twentieth century. TLS signed “Keynes,” one page, 4.5 x 7, personal letterhead, February 22, 1946. Keynes writes to Lady Eady. In part: “I am off to the other side on Sunday. It is rather hard to make out from the telegrams whether Wilfrid will have started home before I get out. On the chance of his still being there, I have sent a message to say that I should very much like to see him in New York, if that turns out to be practicable….” A touch of mild soiling, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
