Civil War general and Indian fighter, Custer distinguished himself as a cavalry commander. He became a brigadier general of volunteers at age 23. Following the war he became field commander of the 7th Cavalry. He was killed with all in his immediate command in the battle of Little Bighorn on June 25, 1876. Ink signature, “G. A. Custer, B. Maj. Genl, USA,” on an off-white lightly-lined 3.25 x 1.5 slip. Accompanied by a notarized letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. In very good condition, with light wrinkling from adhesive remnants on reverse, central horizontal fold, some scattered soiling and slight mirroring of ink from folding.
