Description

The greatest: “Ty Cobb was ... a great player but [Honus] Wagner could do every thing”

Shortstop (1880–1948) for the Chicago Cubs who made up one third of the legendary Tinker-Evers-Chance double-play combination. ALS, one page, 5.25 x 4, dated in another hand April 30, 1932. Tinker writes to a fan. In full: “Honus Wagner was the greatest ball player I ever played ball with—Ty Cobb was also a great player but Wagner could do every thing. Good luck Jimmy.” In very good condition, with mounting tabs to corners, small slip affixed to top edge, tiny marginal adhesive remnant, and small area of mild toning touching part of last name. The writing is clear and dark throughout. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
