Reigning king of England during World War II, 1936–52, and father of Queen Elizabeth. DS, signed “George R.,” two pages, 8.25 x 12.75, June 2, 1949. Official letter of state to the “President of the Republic of Bolivia.” In part, “George the Sixth, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions beyond the Seas King, Defender of the Faith,…To the President of the Republic of Bolivia sendeth greeting! Our good friend! Being desirous to maintain, without interruption, the relations of friendship and good understanding which happily subsists between our realm and the Republic of Bolivia, we have made choice of our trusty and well-beloved John Garnett Lomax, Esquire, Companion of Our Most Distinguished Order of the British Empire, upon whom has been conferred the decoration of our Military Cross, to reside with you in the character of our Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.” In fine condition, with a bisecting horizontal fold.
