The man who became a sweater

British military officer (1797–1868), aka the Seventh Earl of Cardigan, who led the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War. The cardigan sweater was named after him. ALS signed “Brudenell,” one page, 7 x 9, April 27, 1830. Brudenell writes to Thomas Bell in Leicester, sending apologies for having mislaid a letter. The letter retains its integral mailing leaf, which includes the additional signature “Brudenell.” In very good condition, with letter affixed at corners to a piece of cardboard, collector’s card affixed to blank margin, scattered soiling and light staining, and one mailing fold touching signature.
