Partial DS, signed “Thomas A. Edison,” one page, 8 x 13, January 1, 1886. A summary of the annual report of Bergmann and Company confirming the capitalization and debts of that company; Edison signs as a trustee. The company, in whose New York building Edison shared quarters, was where the inventor developed his first commercial light socket, which used the now-familiar “screw” attachment. A month later, on February 24, Edison married his second wife, Mina. Later in that year, the inventor moved from the Menlo Park laboratory where he invented the incandescent lamp to new, more spacious quarters at Orange, New Jersey.
