Vintage matte-finish 7 x 10.25 Harris and Ewing portrait photo, boldly signed in the lower border in fountain pen as president, “Franklin D. Roosevelt.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 12.5 x 15.5. Two TLS are affixed to reverse of frame, both on William Ballantyne & Sons letterhead, one stating, “Mr. Roosevelt has stopped giving autographs…there is a very slim possibility that he may make an exception in this case.” Second letter states, “Through the aid and intercession of some very good friends of ours, we have been able to secure the autograph to the photograph of President Roosevelt.” In very good condition, with silvering to all four edges and darker areas.
