American patriot (1736–1799) best remembered for his stirring, historic declaration, “Give me liberty or give me death.” Partially printed DS, one page, 14.5 x 18.25, May 23, 1785. A document, signed by Henry as Governor of Virginia, granting to William Nanclift a parcel of land in Lincoln County. In fair condition, with folds (complete separations and large losses, including losses to top edge, touching several words), scattered toning and spotting, light fold through signature, and small tear near but not touching signature.
