Signed book: The Mutt and Jeff Cartoons, Book 2. Boston: Ball Publishing Company, 1914. Hardcover, 15.5 x 5.5. Signed and inscribed on the title page, “To Mr. Edison with the greatest of respect and admiration from Bud Fisher.” The association between Fisher and Thomas Edison was evidently made through pioneering animator Raoul Barré (1874–1932), whose ground-breaking cartoons were for a time produced and distributed by Edison Studios. After striking out on his own in 1914, Barré enjoyed tremendous success with an animated series based on Fisher’s popular Mutt and Jeff newspaper strip. Light toning and rubbing to covers, otherwise fine, tight condition. A remarkable association of unusual historic interest! R&R COA.
