LS, signed “Robert Lincoln,” one lightly lined page both sides, 8 x 10, War Department letterhead, July 20, 1883. Lincoln, as Secretary of War, writes to General William B. Franklin, President of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Hartford. In part: “I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt … of your accounts as Acting Treasurer of the House for the quarter ending June 30, 1883. The accounts have been referred to the Second Auditor of the Treasury for settlement under the Act of March 3d, 1875.” Tiny tear to top edge, otherwise fine, bright condition. R&R COA.
