TLS in German, signed “A. Einstein,” one page, 8.5 x 11, January 23, 1935. Letter to Stanley D. Wettereau. In full (translated), “My first publication about the equivalence of mass and energy appeared in the ‘Annals of Physics’ in the year 1905. A simple derivation of that relationship is currently at press (Gibbs-Lecture before the American Mathematical Society in Pittsburgh).” Neatly signed at the conclusion, “A. Einstein.” In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds and a trivial area of toning along bottom from tape remnant on reverse. Mass-energy equivalence is the concept that all mass has an energy equivalence, and all energy has a mass equivalence. This is expressed quantitatively using the special relativity equation: E=mc(2). Great letter directly connecting Einstein and his most famous concept! LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
