Jewish chemist and statesman (1874–1952) who helped secure the Balfour Declaration of 1917, served as President of the World Zionist Organization, and became the first President of Israel. TLS in German, signed “Dr. Ch. Weizmann,” one page, 8.5 x 11, November 4, 1903. Weizmann writes to Dr. Victor Jacobson in Simferopol. In part (translated): “I herewith acknowledge the receipt of: 265 Francs, 75 Centimes (two hundred sixty-five Francs and 75 centimes) which I have received for the account of the [periodical] The Jew.” After signing, Weizmann adds a handwritten postscript in pencil, which he signs “Chaim”: “Sending you hearty regards upon receiving the details of the letter. I will write you further, but now I just limit myself to official documentation.” In very good condition, with marginal file holes, a few mild wrinkles, crease to lower right corner, and intersecting mailing folds.
