Businessman (1818–1881) who cofounded the famous express firm Wells, Fargo & Co., served as president of American Express, and later directed the New York Central and Northern Pacific Railways. Handsomely engraved DS, signed “Wm. G. Fargo,” one page both sides, 11.5 x 7.75, June 24, 1869. A certificate for twenty shares of stock in the American Express Company issued to P. Mitchell of Dayton, Ohio. Cancellation hole in blank portion and a few wrinkles, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
