American patriot (1736–1799) best remembered for his stirring, historic declaration, “Give me liberty or give me death.” ALS signed “P. Henry, Jr.” one page, 7.25 x 4.25, no date. Henry writes to an unknown recipient regarding a land survey. In part: “I do not think it essential to mention precisely the spot where the surveyor is to begin. If he admits on his book an Entry in the words you mention I should think he may lawfully make the survey for Wilkinson. If you choose to take up the remainder of the … land adjoining you, it may be well to make entrys for it with the Surveyor.” Henry occasionally added the “Jr.” to his name to distinguish himself from his same-named uncle, an Episopal minister; this form of his signature is quite uncommon and apparently used exclusively on documents of an official nature. Matted and framed with a color portrait and engraved plaque to an overall size of 22.5 x 15.5.
