Souvenir typescript of the “Joint Resolution to amend the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,” one page, White House, letterhead marked “Approved June 14, 1954,” signed “Dwight D. Eisenhower,” (likely after his term in office). The text of the Resolution is headed “Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,” and states: “The following is designated as the pledge of allegiance to the flag: ‘I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’ Such pledge should be rendered by standing with the right hand over the heart. However civilians will always show full respect to the flag when the pledge is given by merely standing at attention, men removing headdress. Persons in uniform shall render the military salute.” Beautifully matted and framed with a portrait of Eisenhower to an overall size of 18 x 15. Also included is a vintage 9.25 x 13 matte-finish photo of Cordell Hull, signed and inscribed “To Hon. Louis C. Rabaut, with high esteem - Cordell Hull.” In very fine condition.
