Unsigned handwritten legal manuscript on an 8 x 12.5 sheet of lightly lined paper, undated, but docketed December 1844. Lincoln writes an affidavit, signed by John Rhea, complainant in Rhea vs. James Rhea’s heirs, in which he declares that several named defendants “reside without the limits of the state.” Lincoln and Stephen Logan represented Rhea in this suit, which was decided in his favor in March of 1845.
