Operatic tenor who with his powerful, pure, emotive voice is considered one of the greatest singers ever. Caruso died in 1921, at the age of forty-eight, from what is thought to be complications of pleurisy. He is buried in Naples. In 1951, his life was the subject of a highly fictionalized Hollywood motion picture, The Great Caruso. Since his death, numerous compilation albums of his work have been created. Wonderful vintage sepia matte-finish 5.5 x 7.5 photo of the very sharply dressed Caruso, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “A Signor Guido Ciccolini, Sinceramente, Enrico Caruso 1919.” In fine condition, with some scattered light edge wear, trivial brush above signature and creasing and mild silvering to darker background. Signature and inscription remain as bold as the day Caruso signed. R&R COA.
