In 1944 he was implicated in a plot to assassinate Hitler; given the choice of suicide or a trial, he ended his own life with poison. A printed “Order of the Day No. 5” outlining a number of personnel matters and mentioning a lecture on “The Party and Armed Forces” and a screening of the 1938 Nazi-produced war picture Pour le mérite [For Merit]. After signing beneath the text in grease pencil, Rommel adds a brief illegible notation and signs again in pencil. File holes and light fold along one edge, otherwise fine, clean condition. R&R COA.
