Third son of Dauphin Louis, husband of Marie Antoinette, deposed in September of 1792, tried for treason December 1792, found guilty, condemned to death and guillotined. DS, in French, signed “Louis,” one page, 9.25 x 14.5, May 20, 1791. Louis orders that the Treasurer-General of the Civil List make a payment of 3,000 francs as extraordinary relief and as an advance towards the claims of the Association of Booksellers. In very good condition, with a bisecting horizontal fold, scattered edge wear and toning and a small label affixed to lower right. R&R COA.
