Check, 8.5 x 3.25, drawn on the “George Herman Ruth and Claire Ruth, as Trustees under Trust Indenture” account, filled by Claire Ruth, and signed by Ruth, “George Herman Ruth,” and also signed by Claire Ruth, payable to Cash for $150.00, June 1, 1948. Amazingly, the check is also endorsed on the reverse, “George Herman Ruth,” and also endorsed by Claire as well. Two months later Ruth would succumb to cancer and pass away on August 18, 1948. Very nicely double matted and framed, so both sides of the check may be viewed, with a nice portrait of Ruth, to an overall size of 16 x 18. In very fine condition, with expected cancellation holes to body of check and a single pinpoint of paper loss to top right, mentioned only for accuracy. We have only seen one other item signed with Ruth’s full name, single signed no less.
