TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, Civil Service Commission letterhead, December 16, 1893. Roosevelt writes to Winthrop Chanler, Esq., making two handwritten corrections. In full: “You unsatisfactory cuss, what do you mean by saying that you may not be at the dinner on January 10th. Of course you have got to be at the dinner, and that is all there is about it. More than that, I can’t make out from your letter if you have engaged, or will engage, the room at the Knickerbocker Club. Please attend to this at once, as I don’t want to have a hungry crowd of hunters gathered and no fare for them. Give my warm love to your wife, and answer this letter in the affirmative at once.” Tiny chips, edge tear, paperclip impression, and small, faint stain, all trivial and confined to margins, otherwise fine, bright condition. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
