War-dated DS, as president, one page, 8 x 10, July 2, 1862. President Lincoln order the Secretary of State “to affix the Seal of the United States to my ratification to the General Treaty of Amity, Commerce, Consular Privileges and Extradition between the U. S. and Salvador, signed at Washington on the 29 May, 1862.” In fair to good condition, with several repairs to tears and fold separations, scattered light paper loss and chipping, mostly to edges, scattered toning and a horizontal fold through signature. Lincoln would sign several bills and two Acts of Congress during this week, including a revision of the Federal Income Tax and approval of the Union Pacific-Central Pacific Railroad. Despite the flaws, the signature is still bold and prominent, and this item represents example of Lincoln continuing foreign diplomacy while in the middle of Civil War. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
