In full: “This is to certify that John Kennedy whose signature and photograph appear hereon, has this day been regularly appointed Assistant District Attorney on the staff of the District Attorney of the County of New York.” Signed in type: “Robert M. Morgenthau/District Attorney.” Embossed seal of the District Attorney affixed partially over photograph. In original leather folder, 6.25 x 4, imprinted inside, opposite ID card: “District Attorney/New York County.” A Charvet silk tie once belonging to Kennedy, Jr. given to Kevin Hynes by Caroline Kennedy. Also, photocopies of two ALSs about John, from Caroline to Kevin, 1999 and 2000; John Kennedy. Lots of Japanese but I watch my back.” His father’s PT boat was rammed and sunk by the Japanese in the South Pacific in World War II almost exactly 50 years earlier, on August 2, 1943. August 9, 1993, the day he wrote this card, was the 30th anniversary of the death of his two-day old brother Patrick; Invitation to the private Jacqueline Kennedy Funeral Mass. Partly printed engraved card, 5.5 x 4.25. In full: “Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg and John F. Kennedy, Jr. invite Kevin J. Hynes to the funeral mass for their mother Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis on Monday, May 23, 1994 at 10’oclock St. Ignatius Loyola, Park Avenue at 84th Street, New York City. You must present this card at the church by 9:45 a.m.” Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had died in her Fifth Avenue apartment on May 19, 1994. With blank envelope and mass card, 5.5 x 7.5 inches, embossed scallop shell at top, engraved with six line quote by Sir Walter Raleigh beginning “Give me my scallop-shell of quiet.” ; Kevin J. Hynes and John Kennedy. DS: “Kevin J. Hynes,” one page, 8.5 x 11, dated January 27, 1998. To John Kennedy. Acknowledged and Agreed: “J. Kennedy.” In part: “I am happy to assist you in the matter which we have discussed…Per our discussions last week, I will oversee and direct this entire operation with your input and cooperation. In return, you will pay me at a reduced hourly rate of $150 per billable hour.” Accompanied by a photocopy of a $3,500 check from Kennedy to Hynes, noted by Hynes in ink to be “Retainer rec’d/1-26-98” with the actual check tear-off receipt stapled to it; John Kennedy. ALS, signed, “Love John & Carolyn” by John, 7.25 x 4.75, no date, on his personal card engraved “JFK” on top, with original envelope addressed by John to “Mr and Mrs Kevin Hynes.” In full: “Dear Young Kevin and Beth, I have a year but I know you two will give me a little slack. I send this on with great affection and trust it will go well with Larchmont-Gothic. Hope you dig it.” Printed Invitation Signed with ANS: “John” on card, one page, 6.75 x 5, an invitation to “George/The Big Holiday Bash”, December 11, 1998. In full: “Kevin/Be There/John.” In September 1995, John Kennedy had founded “George,” a politics-themed monthly which ceased publication in 2001; John Kennedy’s “Piper” cap. John Kennedy’s cap embroidered with the Piper Aircraft logo. This cap was found in the trunk of his Saab Scania automobile, bought by Kevin Hynes after John Kennedy’s death in the crash of his Piper aircraft. With five color photographs of the car and open trunk, one with the hat in it. In the photocopy of the 2000 letter from Caroline to Kevin, she writes, in part: “I hope the car is working. You were very brave to buy it. I’m glad you did.”; Partly Printed DS signed by Hynes, three pages, 8.5 x 11, [Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts], April 30, 1999. Rental Agreement between landlord (Arlene Pailler) and tenant (Kevin Hynes) for a one week rental of 11 Canonicus Avenue, Oak Bluffs, Mass., on Martha’s Vineyard, from Sunday, July 11, 1999 to Sunday, July 18, 1999 at $1300. On July 16, 1999, John Kennedy was planning to drop off his sister-in-law, Lauren Bessette, on Martha’s Vineyard, where the Kennedy family had a vacation house, then fly with his wife Carolyn to the family compound in Hyannis Port where they planned to attend the wedding of his cousin Rory, the youngest of his uncle Robert F. Kennedy's eleven children. The Piper Saratoga bought by Kennedy in April and piloted by him, crashed off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard on Friday evening, July 16, 1999, killing John and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and her sister Lauren; Sporting events tickets including the Knicks and SuperBowl XXXI; six unsigned photographs, all but one in color, each 8.5 x 6. Four pictures of Kennedy and Hynes in South Korea; one with Kennedy and Hynes wearing sunglasses; one picture of John and his sister Caroline on the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy. Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. bound photo album, 11.25 x 6.75, with color aerial photograph of the Hyundai shipyard on the first page containing 36 color photographs, each 7 x 5 inches, have been inserted. Most pictures are of Kennedy with Korean businessmen, some with Kevin Hynes, and some at the shipbuilding plant. Invitation to the private Kennedy-Bessette Funeral Mass. Yeats on the other and a printed booklet, The Eucharist Celebrating the Lives of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and John F. Kennedy, Jr., sixteen pages, 5.5 x 8.5.
