Description

Comrade Lee: Hand-addressed envelope from Russia with his Cyrillic signature

Assassin of John F. Kennedy, at least according to four United States government investigations. On November 22, 1963, Oswald was arrested on suspicion of killing President Kennedy and Dallas policeman J. D. Tippit earlier that day. Oswald claimed that he was a ‘patsy’ and emphatically denied the charges. Two days later, Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby on live television while in police custody. Public opinion is still divided regarding the official version of Oswald’s culpability in the assassination. Air mail envelope, 6.25 x 4.5, addressed in Oswald’s hand (in English) to “Mr. R. Oswald, 7313 Davenport St., Fort Worth, Texas, USA,” Oswald adding his return address in Minsk and his last name, all in Cyrillic. Envelope bears a Russian cancellation on front and two November 8, 1961 Fort Worth cancellations on reverse. In fine condition, with rough top edge from opening and a few edge creases. Any opportunity to acquire anything from Oswald is rare, with a chance to obtain two signatures on one item, especially related to his time in Russia, is an opportunity not to be missed. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
